SENIOR RESEARCHER

About the Senior Researcher Position:

                           

The Senior Researcher conducts strategic research to support NOWCRJ’s campaigns and members.  The Senior Researcher reports to the Policy Director and works closely with organizers and members to advance the strategic objectives of NOWCRJ.

 

Specifically, the Senior Researcher is responsible for:

  • Collaborating with NOWCRJ staff and members to identify research needs and opportunities.

  • Designing and conducting participatory research projects.

  • Conducting original and broadly accessible research that spans disciplines and practice areas, drawing from the fields of economics, political science, history, geography, critical race theory, and corporate targeting.

  • Producing persuasive, high-quality materials including policy whitepapers, popular education materials, and internal memos.

  • Staying abreast of developments in the political landscape related to immigrant and workers’ issues; advising and sharing developments with staff and members. 

  • Implementing effective systems and protocols for managing research requests and reporting out to the team.

  • Representing NOWCRJ in coalitions and maintaining regular communications with partner organizations and government actors.

 

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of advocacy, research, or campaigning experience.

  • Deep commitment to research and advocacy work that animates a collective vision and centers low-income workers and communities of color.

  • Exceptional research, writing, and oral communication skills.

  • Spanish fluency preferred.  In your application, please indicate all languages are spoken and your level of proficiency in each language. 

  • Teaching experience preferred. 

  • Ability to implement the vision, think strategically, creatively problem solve, exercise good judgment, and lead with both enthusiasm and humility.
